I decided earlier today that I'd be out for a session tonight, and after checking the tide times and the swell forecast, I started dreaming of Bass. So went down to my favourite mark with my mate Sean to fish 3hrs down.
You could almost smell the bass! A lovely surf on with nice tables between the breakers (quite a few surfers and paddlers out as well).
Started off really slow, as we worked our way along the beach, then about 1 hour before low tide, and after the sun was down, Sean got the first fish, a small Coley. I got myself a flounder, but then Sean got his first ever Bass (he's only been fishing since January as well!)
Well pleased for him! (but gutted I still haven't got my first one yet!)
A quick photo shoot,
then it was returned alive and well (as soon as I put it in the water it kicked its tail and swam off).
Didn't have scales to weigh it, but I saw one weighed on roker pier the other day which was 2lb 9, and this one was a bit smaller so probably somewhere around 2lb to 2lb 3 (as always, the photos don't do it justice, it looked, and felt, heavier than it does in the pics).
Well done Sean, and I can't wait to get back down there again to get mine!
