  • Seaton Sluice rocks high tide 13/03/2008

After my post earlier in the week in the main forum and talking to Jim I popped along after tea to give the mark he'd mentioned a few chucks to get a feel for the place.

Took 2 rods along and baited up one with just ragworm and the other with rag and razor cocktail. Fished the rising tide for just over 2hrs upto top. Hell of a lot of small knocks, not whitey rattles but probable blennies/rockling etc I'd guess, they were managing to strip the worm baits but obviously too small to hook. Only about half an hour in the rod baited with the cocktail got two very solid hard nods, set the old heart racing but didn't manage to connect with the fish, bugger! From that point it was back to the little knocks of the small fish, but it's certainly been enough to make me want to try out the mark as a regular chuck.

Cheers to Jim for the info, spot on mate - only lost one rig the entire session!

Also bumped into sfj21 on the way back to the car, nice to meet you mate.

I was hoping to see a lunker when I saw your post Lee never mind mate, better luck next time. It really is a canny shelter from the wind when you get down there though isn't it

Have a look down at low water some time and you will get a better idea of where you are fishing, some pretty deep holes and gullies out there.

    Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Hi mate, nice to meet you last night. I've just been down there to have a look, should be a canny spot. I'll have to check it out at low tide like Willy says though, not that I can ever cast where I'm aiming for

Yeah, I'm going to make it a regular chuck so I'll have a good look around down there next chance I get.

Fishing must have been tough all over at the weekend, had a couple of hours on the pier at Blyth for nada on Saturday morning, think there was one guy left on when I gave up, no-one getting even a bite. Took the bairn down to the harbour Sunday for an hour or so, he'd have been happy chasing crabs but even they weren't around. Very odd.

Good chance of being small coalies from around there. Get plenty in the Sluice corner of the beach. Had plenty small ones from around there and Hartley recently. Not seen many size ones though. Used to get more, some taking baits on the drop.
