First time out fishing in a while as been away with work. Recently purchased a Shakespeare Salt Spin and Daiwa Procaster 4000 loaded with 25lbs whiplash so been waiting for a chance to get out and try some spinning. Only took up fishing Autumn last year so never had the fishing in the sun experience, much prefer it to cold winter nights in the wind and rain i must say Fished golf course side from 16:00 - 19:00ish

Probably need a lot of work on my spinning technique but felt I didnt do bad for a first time. Not that many bites but probably due to me rather than the fish not being there as broonshoe seems to be landing a few. Had bait in the water (peeler and mussel) but not a knock. Hooked into a Pollock but lost it on the surface 6 foot out to a mighty head shake. Lost another unseen fish in the kelp at my feet but then finally managed to land this lovely coloured cod of just shy of 3lbs. Beautiful day to be out and thoroughly enjoyed my first spinning session and the fun of catching a decent size fish on a smaller rod

Fished rocks in middle of last photo broonshoe. It is a good spot, gully to left, channel to the right and you can fish off towards large rock in photo off end

All my bites came from casting between the big rock in last pic to right and the rocks you cant see that are under the surface to the left side. You did right getting off there before it got to wet mate. You did well with fish. I am still trying to work out the best way to find the bottom without snagging up, bit of practice needed

where the two small rocks are on the left of your pic m8 just to right of those rocks is a dense kelp bed when the tide is running hard I cast beyond the kelp bed and try to get the lure down deep and around it to gauge the depth usually cost you a lure or two

Its beautiful place, some cracking marks all the way along there. The mark you were fishing is where I got a cracking pollock from 6 years or so ago.
The channel between the island and where you were actually houses the remnants of shipwreck, was the President, deliberately ran aground after getting into trouble. Only the boilers remain and some wreckage to the north, thats why you get loads of divers spoiling your session!

Nice pictures there mate and a good report, as said in broon shoe's thread looking forward to my first trip up to Eyemouth in a fair while end of this month

No pollock showing yet then, well not in great numbers anyway by the sounds - love spinning for them
