Hello lads fished Sandsend last night in police compo.
Only other time i have fished on the beach was for bass in the summer so this was a first.
We were given our marks, all ten metres apart.
After couple of casts lad to my left pulled in a strange looking fish. At first i thought it was a small ling, then a bass then i thought that bu**er looks like a blue trout off the Derwent resevoir. Sure enought the lad had caught a lovely big sea trout at least 2 1/2 lb.
Checking the list of fish it was not even on. Still any other species was there and he got 20 points. The same lad then began bringing in small Rocklings on his bottom hook. He must have had about five at 10 points each. 18 cm min size and one point awarded for every centimeter over official size.
I caught a big fat coalie which was 34 centimeters long-one barsteward centimeter short of 35 the score mark which would have given me 8 points.
Eventually i caught one big whitie well in at about 35cm size and i felt like kissing it. I scored my first official points and did not blank.
All in all a good night last night enjoyed the beach and can see why waders are important.
The biggest fish was a cod caught by one of the Cleveland lads at something like 54".
The official results should be in the comp sections. (forgive me if this is where this belongs).
Now then e-bay for some neoprene waders.
