  • Roker Pier 13/04/2014

I had a short session on Roker Pier this morning the first three hours of the flood fishing two rods one out and one down the side. Bait ragworm. It was a nice morning but canny windy and hardly anyone else out fishing but there were plenty of tourists to pester me ... "what kind of fish do you catch here mate?", "where is Scarborough from here?", "where is Whitley bay", " where did Roker Park used to be" etc etc. Anyway I ended up with seven fish - two dabs, two flounders, a coley, a codling and a sea scorpion. I thought it was a short spined sea scorpion at first as it was the biggest one I've caught about the size of my hand but a quick inspection of the gill flaps showed it was actually just a big long spined sea scorpion. Toonboy MC and Mad Rob Crabstick turned up later so had a bit chat with them and they were pulling a few species in too. So a canny few hours out on the Wear.

Plenty fish to keep you busy there Mike. Rubbish on ssp today, only lasted a couple of hours, no fish and the wind was really bad.

No target species today mate. Wasn't really in the mood today to be honest, if I didn't have the bait left from yesterday I probably wouldn't have bothered. No chance of any float fishing today with that wind but a couple of lads were out with lures.
