  • Grotto 11/4

Not much happening down there tonight. Fished 2 down 2 up and had small tommies for an hour over low water on fresh crab. Had 4 fish including the smallest coley I've ever caught! One other tommy between my 3 mates. Sea was flat as a witches tit!
Them steps are a killer mind on the way back up. Most interesting thing was a fight between 2 seagulls. They tumbled off the stack and one slammed into the rocks on the deck. I thought it was a gonner but it flew off after a couple of minutes. Might give it a bash down there this winter some time. Seems pretty sheltered

At least you got a few fish.

I spent a lot of time down there, in front of the grotto, over the winter but didn't get much at all. Wish I'd spent the time on the pier instead (next winter I'll probably be on the pier more, and all the fish will be at marsden!)

I was down there over the Christmas, not much happening, when the police helicopter came over and loads of coppers came down onto the beach, turned out a woman had jumped off the cliffs right behind me.

That's a good idea, I chose all the wrong nights and marks this winter. I'm gonna go down the 44 in about 6 hours, for plaice...so anyone wanting to catch fish should stay away from there! (should get to bed and get some sleep now actually).
