Dazza I will be up there working and fishing again next week, so will let you know the score with regards to 'if its fishing or not'. Know a 'few' marks up there which have been sucessfull so far this season and in the past, but it will just depend on the conditions; coz by the end of next week when you are planning to go Windguru is predicting 15 - 20 mph ENE winds mate.
From what I have read elsewhere I think a few lads are travelling up there from our neck of the woods this weekend for a sesh too. Good place to check is the Scotland section on World Sea Fishing site for info.
As far as bait goes mate its the same as we would use round our neck of the woods (razor/mussel/squid/runnydown/crab/lug/rag etc) but dont be frightened to fish a rod with a big mackerel bait because fish bait really does seem to sort out the better fish and the local lads seem to swear by it. All the best mate and I will try and remember to drop you a line next week.'Fishing is the easy part! Its all the time and effort you put into every other aspect of it!'

Arbroath cliffs is fishing well if you want big fish then look no further than big fish baits half mackrel flappers on a 6/0 pully pennel or 2 squid these are getting the bigger fish all baits will fish i used fresh crab and mussel alot but were taking lots of fish around the 4lb mark but as i says take all baits there worth a try.
I will say tho it needs to be calmish if there is big seas on up there your wasting your time it needs to have a nice lazy roll coming in or catch it just after a big sea as its dying, i was going to go up this weekend but dont no whats happening now im keeping a close eye on the weather its forcasted big NNE seas the cages in the harbour can be ok in rough weather but locals usally have them filled up before anyone other parts to try is usan, auchmithie.bervie there are lots of places to give it ago up there.

My pleasure. Hope they help. By the way the maps came from Flash Earth ...satellite and aerial imagery of the Earth in Flash. Its the usual ggogle maps etc, but they are all on the same site and it's quick to jump between maps to get the clearest picture. Doesn't show all the unnecessary "clutter" either. Try it.

Well if you want some more. Big Paul mentioned Usan and Bervie. Last time I was at Inverbervie, (its a shingle beach), the kelp and rocks you cast into had been covered over by sand. Might have been scoured out again, but I don't know. It's a fair bit north of Arbroath so I'd be tempted to give it a miss. Maps below of Usan/Mains of Usan.
Best of Luck.
