  • Tynemouth 29th December

    Greetings from Cannock,
Just got back from my mams. Success in finding a new top ring for the big rod - will be available for the N v S comp if needed. Fished with Rod on Saturday night, low water. There was a good hole on the Stoney on Tynemouth beach but a lack of sea meant only a few small bites. As the tide ebbed we moved into the Barge Bottom - some movement in there as the NE roll got away but only more small bites and a poodler for me. Taking a gamble we moved to Sharpness and thought about plodging across to **** Hill but thought better of it (just as well as the lifeboat might have been needed). Fished the bottom end of the Lobster Pots, Rod had a codling of 3lb first chuck and we had a couple of bites and then the tide turned and, with the wind still from the west, a 2 feet swell became a 10 feet swell in 3 hours. As it was now 3am we departed wondering why, in the Lobster Pots, we had had half a dozen casts, across an increasing roll, me with 60lb line and yet neither of us had been fast once.
    Funny game.
Happy New Year from me and Eileen.
