  • Blyth west pier

Me and 2 mates fished west pier from 12-5 today (23rd) using rag lug mussel and mackeral, tried at the bend for a couple of hours casting into the open sea with no bites so we moved to the end and fished into the river with no bites either ( apart from 2 crabs)

The wind was moderate (and icy cold) blowing in your face from a southerly direction, the sea was a little choppy on the flood, the ebb was wind against tide which produced a bit swell but the sesh was over by then.

We got talking to a couple lads fishing next to us who showed us some nice footage on a moble phone of a 8lb. cod getting hauled in from the same spot last week, which was the heaviest of 5 fish caught from 6 casts, He said it had been fishing well over the last few weeks... but not today....
