Hello lads just got back. Was going to go on heugh then changed mind at the last minute and went on Steetly. Parked the car on the sea front and trecked over.Got on about 2:15 pm . Nice swell on the water.
Few little whities caught off the gantrys.
Went to the end and couple lads on. They had a couple of whities. One of the lads was from Ripon.
Anyway set up with two rods and the crabs had a field day. I know cos i pulled a swimmer out still eating my worm.
Caught a couple of nice dabs. Kept the biggest and give it to some lads on the pier. Also caught couple nice whities. The lads got these as well.
And Ian i even caught a Rocking.
My hart was thumping on one bite. Felt nice and heavy. On way up saw two whities on Pennel. Top one wrapped up in a a ball.
Got to 7:15 pm and kept thinking of my 18 cans of Fosters i bought today so packed up.
Good day but disappointed not to get Codling.
Conditions were not suitable for them really.

        car on the pier.

One of the younger lads actually drove his car onto the pier. I checked the route and it is not difficult to do.In a 4x4 it would be a breeze. i would be concerned about the structure but one of the lads i spoke to said it had iron girders running its length.
I think a mountain bike in the back of my piccaso would be better and just cycle from the sea front where i leave my car.
There is an old bloke (69 yrs)gets on from Fishburn. He has a van which he parks up on the estate and he has a bike he uses to cycle over with.

fancy letting me know the way to get a vehicle close to the pier, i have a 4wd so not a problem, just dont like the idea of leaving it where the little sh*ts can get to it, pm if you dont want to say on an open forum

            cheers

Drive to the end of cemetry road. Turn right and drive over the old factory grounds towards the sea. Turn left down the sandy road and then right onto the pier. Take care.I personally would not trust the wooden beams some look very dodgy. Plus there are a lot of people with 4x4 s who have not took vehicles on.
Oh and its a long way down to the sea for the sake of a couple of fish.

thanks mick, nah i was not goin onto the pier itself, more parking up near the start, basically so i can see if its ok rather than leave it where you used to leave the cars, having walked the pier last year and seen some of the boards no way would i put a vehicle on there
