  • Advice for an old idiot

    Hi guys

I am an old idiot who has only recently taken up shore fishing again after a break of a few years chasing freshwater species. I got bored catching the same fish and still having my shore rods decided to give it a go and you know what I really enjoyed it and couldn't understand why I left in the first place!

I am based in Stockton so am pretty central for all of the NE but have mainly been fishing the Whitby area with some success 2013/14. I want to do a lot over the summer on rock edges, can anyone suggest different places to try for Bass, Mackerel, Thornbacks etc. I used to live Humberside so used to catch Thornies from the beach there and would love to do so again up here, any ideas?

Also tried to contact Seaham Club a few weeks ago to ask about membership but got no reply to my message, any suggestions on who to contact and when is best?

Any help will be really appreciated.

      Hi Chas

i'm chairman of the ... Hartlepool Pirates

obviously were based in Hartlepool. we are always open to new members. Were a friendly group of lads who fish 2 matches a month.

you will be welcome to come to our next meeting to have a chat with the lads and see how we run our club [with no obligation to join].

We have our next meeting [which you need to attend to be voted in to the club] in the Stranton Social club, Hartlepool.

Our meetings are held on the last thursday of every month at 7.30pm where we bring our results up to date and plan our matches for the next month.

we fish 8 roving matches at the begining of the year [the first half of our winter league] we then fish 8 summer league matches that we try to fish at different venues on a pegged measure and release basis. then its the last 8 of the winter league to take us up to Christmas.

Its £10 annual membership and £6 entry each match.

if theres anything more you need to know just pm me here.

look foreward to hearing from you.

      Bill
