Fished the club match this afternoon on a very windy North pier. Not much to write home about but second cast I did manage a new species for me with my first ever Turbot:

Unfortunately he was ony 32cm so 3cm too small to weigh in but even so I was chuffed to bits with it. Not sure if it took lug or bluey as when I got it on the pier he had both hooks down his gob

Next cast I managed a tommy codling and that was my lot for today. Was hard work in that wind and only saw a couple of fish landed with plenty of lads seeing sense and heading for home early. I stuck it out to the bitter end to be rewarded with rain joining the wind for the last half hour or so.

Baits were bluey, lug and frozen crab on two hook clipdown, I also tried a 3 hook with a long and low big bluey bait in the hope of a woofer or a ray but not a sniff on the big baits. Still an enjoyable day despite the weather but roll on spring and fishing in shorts and a polo shirt please

Well done on the turbot mate, great catch. I've never caught one but here's hoping this year.

Thought I walked past you on my way on, were you down the bottom fishing next to Jim Dobie?

Not sure my fish would have gone over 1.3lb even if it had been size but the points would have been nice

Well done Stewart that's a nice turbot mate. I've only ever caught one before and it was palm sized not a patch on yours. Great stuff.
