  • South shields pier Feb 15

Me and son decided on a short sess on pier. Got there 1 hr before low water,
Two lads coming off had a 6 lber and mentioned another 6lber took earlier that day. Set up on round head and an angler pulled one in about 2 lb wind was vile but spirit,s were lifted.
No bites for couple of hrs ,typical. then same angler as before was into a better fish he was on his own , so i went to handball . nice fish 4lb + . 2 hrs later my rod tip flicked up from its slight bend in tide loads slack line, quickly reeled about
15 yds slack line felt a slight flicker and pull down so hit it .Fish on my son handballed it up 4lb 10 oz . well roe,ed up so happy days. Just the one, being a bit hit and miss this season, and its just about over grrrrrrr

It was me you spoke to on the way on mate, the one without without a fish
Well done mate, thought there would be a few more last night but I wanted away from that wind.

Nice fish mate, good reward for braving that wind. As for the season being nearly over there's plenty of time yet, then when the sun comes out properly it's up the road to Northumberland and the summer kelpies in shorts and a t-shirt
