  • Roker Pier 9/10/07

Decided to fish the Ryhope Tue night Open between 7 an 10pm, so off I went with a canny supply of fresh crab and clams down onto the end of Roker Pier for the heaviest fish prize...Got there about 6.30 and got a canny shot on the drum end. Was joined by a few other lads, also in the comp who were fishing with old rag and razer.Comp started and almost immediately we all were into coleys between 30 -34 cms who were taking anything, then as it got dark, the whiteys came on, saw an old guy get a beauty around the 1lb 7oz mark, and I had a few around the 1lb mark, kept one just in case I got amongst the cash. Then 3 codling got landed around the 2lb mark all by lads in the Comp so quickly sent my whitey back to fight another day.
I was landing fish almost every cast, but nothing size to take back.
Comp ended at 10pm and as the lads trundled off to weigh in, I decided to use up the last of my crab before leaving. At 1005 pm slack liner, and a codling weighing between 3lb 7oz and 4lb is lifted onto the pier.
I was that gutted, gave the fish to an old boy for his supper and even better for him, he got my remaining 3 live crabs...I HATE FISHING...
Dont know what got heavist fish and dont want to....
