Hartley 07/10/07

Fished tonight 7pm - 10.30pm. Started off just the side of Hartley Island, tide not big enough to get on. Bites every cast but seemed like coalie rattles. Sure enough got one in. Moved for a few casts into West Bay, same again, coalie and rockling. Moved back to the bay for the last half hour, got codling knock right at the end but came to nowt.

Had bites every chuck bar one but the coalies were about 28-29cm. Didn't matter what bait lug, crab, razor, mussel they all were taken. Water very clear and just a bit of movement.

There were a couple of lads on Hartley Skeer when I went down who left about 10pm and looked like someone on the back of St Marys.

A word of warning for anyone going down in the dark, tha bottom of the steps are piled with weed and it's quite slippery. Especially when your lamp is fading. I had my Tiga left switched on a and battery was flat. Re-charged it today but barely lasted the session, looks like I've buggered another battery.

Just had to get a new battery for mine Peter, £16 from Coleman's in North Shields, cheaper at Maplins (£12.99) but by the time you pay parking etc not worth the hassle.

I'm thinking about getting 2 4amp batteries, so I can leave half the weight in my tackle box, then just swap batteries when the first one goes flat.
