Finished work at 3 o`clock this morning and decided to use some bait I had left over from Saturday. Also got some old black lugworm out of the freezer (it had been in and out of the freezer about 5 or 6 times before and never used). Headed of to Amble and arrived at the pier for about 3:15, it was absolutely lashing down and I got soaked just trying to put my waterproofs on. Eventually started fishing about 3:30 and the sport was non-stop for the next 3 hours. In total I had 19 flounders, 8 codling and 1 rockling. All of the codling were too small to keep but 8 of the flounders were over 30cm, the biggest was 38cm. All the fish were returned alive. It eventually stopped raining about 7 o`clock and that`s also about the time the fish started to go of the feed. Packed up 8:30 when I ran out of bait. Bait used was lugworm, ragworm, frozen blacks and mackerel, the fish didn`t seem to mind what was on the hook as all baits caught something.
