Tried horden again last night from 6 till 9 with whities nearly every cast sometimes double shots and dabs one of which had elastic bands wrapped round its body and cutting into the skin so i cut them off and let it go, i kept 3 decent size whities and the rest went back

At night during late autumn/early winter Horden is, in my opinion the ultimate whitie venue!
Nice to get a coupler of keepers like, give it another month and it will be throwing up a few decent cod as always
Spotter - Horden is in my opinion, the best beach to fish from in the north east...although it is my local so I would say that
Ive had fish there from all over the beach mate, low, high water...back water, from the rocks middle of the beach at low water.
The "Mucky Bay" on the left seems to throw up the biggest cod if thats what youre after, although I personally prefer the other side of the beach where the old flight used to be.
Good ground on the whole beach aside from the rocks in the middle of the beach of courseBest shore catch 2016 - 7.5lb cod, Seaton Carew!

What rocks in the middle of the beach Liam? The flight is also at the north end not the south.
Starting at the very north end you have the foxholes then bell hole, the waterhole, mucky bay, Tommy's rock, the flight, mussel rocks, black water, the landslide, white rock, the blocks, deneholme pipe, Becketts etc etc.
Best advice is to go down at low and look for the features. Do this ideally before you fish as the bottom changes with every tide. Avoid the crowds and more often than not you'll have the fish to yourself. To get away from dragons and catch monsters.

My orientation was never that good - when I say "left" I guess I mean north
Good breakdown of marks - Between what you call blackwater and the landslide I have always known as "sandy bank" - Horden beach has changed a lot even over the past 5 yearsBest shore catch 2016 - 7.5lb cod, Seaton Carew!

Yeah, that's sandy banks mate. The blocks are straight off the entrance from horden car park so still technically horden. I've probably seen you down there at some point over the years but not this season. The fishing is poor down there at the minute, a lot of the marks are full of sand.To get away from dragons and catch monsters.

Aye Sean, think I fished with you a couple years back and you were telling me about a doubler you caught from the beach recently (then)
Think I have spoken to your family once over, Paul? Might have fished with him, name rings a bell.
Anyway probably see you down there some time when I get back out in a months time.Best shore catch 2016 - 7.5lb cod, Seaton Carew!

I live in Peterlee Sean and all my family are from the easington/horden area...I think my family is pretty well known in the area, but id rather not give my name away on the forum. I assumed your surname from your forum name and first thing that came to mind was Paul, although I was thinking of someone a lot older than you.
Your dad and probably my granddad are known to each other and our paths have crossed somewhere. I'm good with faces and names - part of what I do for a living.
I'm pretty sure we have both fished Horden together at some point in the past me and you.
Drop me a pm if I have not satisfied your curiosity
