With the better fishing happening north of the Tyne I decided to have a raid and see if I could steal some of your fish. Set up at my first venue and had a 2lber first cast about an hour into the ebb. I missed a cracking bite a couple of casts later then things slowed until half tide when I connected with a better fish. Got it In close only to lose it in the surge of the undertow. It looked around the 5lb mark, I was gutted. After another fruitless cast I moved a few miles south for my chosen low water shot. First cast and the crabs were bouncing away on my bait so I upped sticks and moved again. First cast at mark number 3 and I connected with another better fish, this one wasn't keen on coming out of the kelp but after huffing and puffing I landed a lovely kelpy of 3lb 10oz followed by another around 2 n half. Bang on low tide I had a series of small plucks but nothing positive. I'd just poured a cup of coffee when the tip slammed down hard and stayed down. This fish stayed very deep all the way in and after a heart stopping moment whilst waiting for a swell to land it I had a beautifully marked fish on the rock in front of me pulling the scales down to 7lb 5oz. I called it a night after one more chuck, happy with 4 fish for around 16lb. Bait used blacks/yellows crab, cart and razor.
