went down shields peir today for the first time in ages.got there for 10 o clock and fished till 4.fished the first gate for about an hour got nowt the lad next to me had one small dab on lug worm.moved up to the south east corner lost a couple of rigs got nowt.then i moved over to the small wall.yes again got nowt the same lad followed me up and had a nice flounder about 2 pound again on lug.i continued to fish the small wall but still had no luck only seen two other fish brought in a small dab and a small codling.i moved back over to the south east corner for the last hour and fished with daylites hoping to be the first to catch mackeral off the pier this year had nothing until i decided to call it a day i gave it one last cast and hooked into 4 colies on the day lites though i had a load of mackeral on but at least it was fish.so had an ok day got a canny tan and some piece and quiet .bait used was fresh crab (bought from a shop)rag worm and some mussel i have had since i was about ten
