Me and my mate headed for loch Etive saturday morning, and after a 6hr drive we arrived at the quarry,(Thanx ''BigPaul'' for directions, spot on mate) We set up camp and were fishing by 4pm. First cast i managed a small codling about 1lb, then my mate pulled in 1 about 3/4lb. We thought we were in for a good night, but how wrong we were. The wind picked up and the rain started to p**s it down. Didnt ger any more bites for hours. To make things worse the place where we pitched our tent began to flood as the tide came in( didnt think grass and flowers could survive salt water, big tides and heavy rain didnt help.) Anyway, after the tent was moved my mate went to sleep but i decided to give it a couple more hours. My patience was rewarded wit a Dogfish of 3lb. Nothing more after that so called it a night at 3am.
Next morning woke up at 6am packed away our gear and headed for the Mull of Galloway. 5hr drive later we arrived.Started fishing at about 3pm and straight away we were into the dogfish. It was a Dogfish a chuck all day/night untill id had enough at 2.30am. Got up at 6am for a bit more fishing, they were still there, bait was never in the water more than 5 minutes. When my mate eventually woke up 9am we tried a bit spinning for the Pollock, with no success. Seen a few caught, but none of any size. Called time at 11am and headed on our 4hr drive home.
All in all a canny weekend With plenty Dogfish. Bait used was Mackeral, Squid, Sandeel and fresh Peeler.
