Ventured down for my first session of the Winter and arrived at 9pm an hour after high water. Was surprised to find only 3 people fishing the North end of the prom and was told that it was pretty quiet (dead in fact). Got set up on the beach along from the ramp and had 3 hours of peace and quiet, fresh air and no bites. Then two codling in 2 casts and next cast I lost a fish which snagged on the way in. A bit frustrating given I hadn't had a snag all night before then. Bait ran out just afterwards, typical when the fish had appeared, and headed home at 12.15am happy that I'd caught my first codling of the season. Both were around the 2lb mark and nice plump fish. Hopefully this is the start to a good season. Tight lines.
