  • S/Shields Pier oct 4th

Afternoon all, hope everyone is well!

Went out yesterday with one of me mates, his dad and his dad's mate to south shields pier, we started the day up at the drum. Jonny's dad's mate managed to land a canny doggie and that was it for the first 2 hours. The wind was ridiculous, so me n jonny went down to peg 42, left the OAPs up at the top to fight the weather, and started getting a bite each cast. Nothing spectacular, though we managed to catch 5 species between us, flounder, codling, eel, rockling, coalie.

I was absolutely over the moon as I've only been sea fishing a few months now and am on the species hunt at the moment.

Lots of bait left today, so we're gonna head back out for a bit and hope for some better luck!

Good luck Abz, yeah, we've seen a good few caught over the last 3 weeks at south shields while we've been down like.
I must remember to charge me phone before we go from now on so I can get some photos!

Well done, sounds like a cracking session.

Was it through the day? I did an all nighter on Friday night, 10pm till 4am and had a nightmare - birds nests, snags, loads of lost gear, and nee fish! I never have much luck on ssp, can't wait for roker to open again.

Aye Andy. we showed up about 2.30pm and stayed until just after 8.30pm
I had the same problem last time we pulled an all nighter, my technique (what little of it there is haha) seems to go to pot once it gets fully dark.
Not one birds nest in two months during daytime fishing and as soon as it gets dark it all goes horribly wrong hah! I think I need to stick it out and get some practice in the dark like.

Chin up Mick mate, you'll bag a load and I'll come home empty handed next time no doubt

No idea why I've been wasting me time fly fishing over the past couple of years. A few months with a multiplier and a sea rod in my hand and I've had way much more fun.
