Decided to give it a go last night in the hope of catching one of those big fish before they all head off to the spawning grounds. I can honestly say that the weather conditions between 9pm-10pm were absolutely abysmal. I tried the Lobster Potts for one chuck. Could hardly stand up in the wind, needless to say lost all my end tackle.Moved across Sharpness to fish on the Bathing Pool Skeer, which did provide a bit of shelter from the wind and it was also on my back.Had four casts which brought in two cod. The first one being 3/4lb and the second weighed at 2lb 8ozs.The second fish gave a tremendous fight coming through the kelp beds. Both fish were returned safely to fight another, as is the custom now when not competition fishing. Finished at midnight, just as the rain was starting.Had a look at the sea this morning on my way to work and couldn't believe that it had died off as much as it had.
