  • Roker & Shields

Got onto Roker Pier about 7:00pm last night there were a few others on due to a couple of matches being fished. The sea was piling over the end and a few lads were fishing the drum, most were much further down the pier where it was relatively safe. Big swell coming in. Got set up, saw a fish come in just up from us then the coastguard came and turfed everyone off. Spoke to someone who had been on the end with a very nice fish who said there had been a number of others caught and several more bigger ones lost. Went onto Shields BIG sea running perfect! Not a single bite or bait touched in 6 hours between the 2 of us.

Am a right in thinking that the keyholding arrangements for the pier will now mean it doesn't get opened quick enough when it's safe and doesn't get closed down when conditions are dangerous? Fantastic. I'm waiting for the stories in the papers about idiot anglers now.
