  • South Shields Sunday Crabstick late report

7 of us fished the comp me. Fishingmark. Mad rob. Codfather145. Joe Montgomery. Outcast and bob ( Waco )
£2 a man longest fish the winner
Got there low tide and fished the 44 mark only Waco went to the end
Bait used yellow tails. Fresh dug rag. Muscle. Crab. Sandeel and a box of thorntons chocolates mmmmmmm
Mad rob took the leed with a coalie of 29 cm which looked like a winner as there was very little action most of the day
Outcast Chris pulled in a canny lobster

But then kept losing gear as did joe he kept reeling in and half way must of been a lobster pot rope snagging him all day then he was cracking off , not having the best of days
Then Fishingmark was reeling in his bait in fast not to catch the rope and only hooked a makki on fresh bait unbelievable and taking the leed at 35 cm ( which we were all trying to ban it from the comp) lol
Then joe and Codfather decided to try a few casts in the bay which proved a good choice 4 casts and 4 fish 2 coalies and 2 codling. With Codfather getting the biggest a 36 cm winner of the comp about 1 1/4lb which was returned and deserved the winnings of £14

Weldone Stevie for the fish and the celebratory jump off the box

The wind was a nightmare all day so we decided to fish the end witha few cod Whiting. Flounder and a nice 30cm dab for me
Not the best days fishing for us but always great banter and p... Taking
Nrg jim and daveym took a few codling from 5 in the morning and also lost a couple of big fish snagging up on the ropes which must of only been 30 yards out
Happy days and let's hope the turn out and weather is better for next weeks RNLI Comp on Sunday

Not the best day fish wise and quite a bit of gear lost but the sun stayed out for us. Those Thornton's chocolates were spot on as well. My new reel was excellent and a bonus late mackerel so not all bad for me. Glad that mackerel didn't win, I'd never have heard the last of it
Roll on the RNLI comp at the weekend, lets make it a success lads with a big turnout.

Was wondering if you were going to post, nice to read it.

      Steve wins again.

Look if he is going to keep winning he has to learn to get off the ground for the celebratory "jump" photo!

By the way, how was the Dover Sole?

We would love to, but very busy with our "Grease" musical next month, so unfortunately we are having to miss out on our usual October week down there. Very disappointed to say the least, as it's the first time in four years we won't be down. However "Grease" became available and our young people made us take it and do an extra musical this year...................Youngsters eh!

A very long way away, but we will be down next April, immediately after "Miss Saigon," so you better have a comp on then!

Be great to meet you all.

                  Told you

Sounds like you all had fun as usual despite the fishing being hard work. Interesting to see you all wrapped up, I was on Horden in shorts and shirt sleeves until it got dark when I finally had to put a jumper on.

It was sunny all day but we were exposed to that chilly wind when it got up. Most of the time the coats were off.

I suppose I did have a 6' colliery waste shelf then some bloody great cliffs behind me to keep the wind off
