  • Roker and Jarrow

Up this morning for 4am with intentions of fishing sun rise on roker . Picked my mate and his son up and at the pier for 5 only to find it locked .
I thought it stayed open unless a sea running , can anyone advise me on opening /closing of roker as only just started going there .
Anyway back in the car and used plan b which was the river at jarrow by the pedestrian tunnel . Spent 5 hours with only one small flat for the bairn . Even took my new crab net to try (gutted could not use on roker as been brewing some really stinking bait for it lol) ,Resulted in about 30 small crabs , but no idea if any of them good for bait so all sent back to rob your hooks .
In all nice few hours out . Always good to see the bairns face light up when they catch first fish .
Even if he 20 odd lol

Peeler crabs are the only crabs most people bother using for bait, and crabs stop eating when they're peeling. So any you catch aren't worth using.
The pier was probably closed because of the forecast, there was a sea on tonight when I drove past.
Well done on the fish, definately beats a blank!

If u went to Shields u can climb around. U don,t have to go far up either. The fence by the gate to your left is canny. Give your bait a good cast and bobs your uncle.
