Fished St Mary's from 12 till 1615 today. Slow to start with fishing 2 rods, one with a big bait on and one with a smaller bait. As it started to flood, couple of undersized codling. Then the big baited rod pulls over, fish on but was unable to budge it, give it line to see if it could free itself to no avail. Had another codling just sized that went back. Then about half hour before I had to pick the girlfriend up from work. Big rod has a little rattle, then bends over. Hung up again but managed to move it and get it in. Weighed it on me digital scales 5.5lb, 2 more casts, had knocks but came to nothing. Think I would of got a lot more if I could of stayed longer. Surprisingly bluey by its self was doing the damage over lug, razor, mussel and rag. Anyhow is my birthday today, and a good start to the season. Currently sat waiting for me cod and chips.
