  • Hartlepool Power Station

FISHED DOWN FROM POWER STATION 2up 2down tide seems to drop quickly here.HAD A 2lb plaice and a 2lb 4oz flounder but also had 7 flatties over 1lb and a codling 1lb 9oz. This is not good ground but it does give good fishing. Bit hard to get to but used to be an engineer at the power station so pulled a few strings and got a walk through the plant and let me out through the bottom gate as its always locked. walked 45yds and set up in nice spot.Had a good tug where I hit it and was into a good fish but it snapped me off mid line on 15lb pulley rig. Didn't see this fish but saw a big swirl in the sea as it was flat and it was a big fish and moved a lot of water as it turned away from me then it was gone.Walking back to car was a bit hard but worth it.
LOVE TO FISH, HATE TO BLANK. STAY AT HOME AND HAVE A BREAKFAST .....

i was using 23lb line weight to stop but15lb line to the hook its there where it snapped. Weight------23lb line-----swivel------15lb line------hook. Its the first time its ever snapped on the hook length. I also checked it was sound befor using it as it was made up on the day.

not to far away but i was casting into the direction of flow as thats where the you get the best mix of outfeed water and tide movment which gets the sediment moving and its where the fish seem to feed at all the power stations i have worked at, fawley was and is the best station for fishing as the outfeed sparge system is split into two seperate outfeed pipes about 30mtrs apart.

Ah right yeah. Try 60-80lb line to the lead and 35-40lb to your hook length. You'll find that it won't twist and tangle and is safer to fish with
