Fished there last night with Keithb.

The water was flat calm and with only a slight breeze it could've been a summers night

Anyway we fished from just before slack water and a couple of hours up.( about 9pm till about 11.30pm)
Using lug, mussel, frozen crab, rancid squid and rag thought we may be in for a fish or two.

Keith fished one rod and me being the greedy git fished two, one set up with a pennel pulley with a 2/0 top hook and a 5/0 bottom hook and the other was set up with the old style paternoster on a 3way swivel

We both had a couple of knocks to start with and then it went quiet.
Keith managed to get his rigs back on just about every chuck, while I on the other hand might as well have just chucked mine in the sea not attached to me main line Think I only got 2 rigs back!!!!

Anyway as we were thinking about packing up as it was our last chuck and the tide was chasing us off the rocks, I had the biggest bite of me life

The Rod tip blasted down about three times and the butt lifted off the ground about 3ft, I raced to grab me rod only to find it had gone dead

I left it in a bit longer too see if it would come back, but it didn't and after realing in found out why.
The hooks had been stripped bare, they were almost as clean as a licked dinner plate

Anyway we headed back to the car were upon keith went home and I went onto the lower tyne estury

fished three different marks to no avail until again on me last cast the rod was rattled!!
After bringing it in, decided to have one last cast which came to nothing.

Left at about 3.15am after an unproductive night

Didn't matter tho' as I thoroughly enjoyed meself and the banter was good

Was nice to see you again Keith and recognised you alot easier than last time we met......................................you had your fishing gear on and you were a damn site more sober

Will be down again soon to see if I can get that biggun on this time

    Cheers

    Tony

    Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Pity about missing the big one m8. Are Haven rocks inside the pier or the ones below the priory or is that castle rocks?
          Regards, Graham

Tony, it seems like the Haven rocks are holding a few decent fish at the moment. There was one of 3-8-0 on sunday morning that took the heaviest fish in the rockhopper open.I had one of 7-4-4 on sunday night and one of our club lads weighed one in on tuesday night at 5-14-10. Doesn't seem to be any fish elsewhere!!!!!!!!!
            Cheers
            Marty

They're the ones on the inside of the pier mate.

A few places near the mouth of the Tyne seem to be chucking out the odd big one at the moment, so hopefully when winter kicks in properly and we get some big sea's running it may be a canny season..................but then again, Lol.

                cheers
