As Phil says, there are almost always fish there... I have never EVER blanked in maybe 75-100 trips over the years! Had some nice fish in the winter too but loads of smaller stuff this time of year. So long as you throw your lead up river / down river into the tide and let plenty spare line out the tide run should be manageable mate..... best of luck!!"In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

Plenty flounder, dab, small whiting, small codling this time of year.... a few coley and the odd dogfish aswell..... even the odd guest appearance of a lobster!!
You will catch with anything mate..... loads of fish about... don't be scared to cast REALLY short or drop it down the side when the tide is in... Had a 3lb codling last winter on my spinning rod less than 5m out!!"In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

as sea troot mentioned fish wider parts of river on big tides. personly i would try right handside of mill dam its about widest par of river, not many people fish there and its a canny shot. couple of years ago well know angler (alex harvey) was runner up in s/s open fishing that area. its also nice place to fish. ps, watch it be chocker saying as ive mentioned it on foram. tight lines.
