fished the tyne at St peters basin last night from 5-8.30.had a couple of undersize codling and lots of bites on lug.Was using a 6oz gripper and didnt seem to get a good hold on bottom, possibly silt? anyway will go here again as lads from id fishing(new store which looks awsome) informed us of lots of codling present here, and talked to some locals who have this year had cod to 10lb.Plus its only 5 mins from where I live!!!Bonus.

Hello Sonny ,great name by the way ,might tell you why one day ,I live in Dunston now but I'm from St. Anthonys myself and fish St.Peters with the bairn sometimes also have been known to drink in the Bascule ,anyway I've had loads of whiting and flatties from there and small codling although Jack ( the bairn ) normally gets more ,I've been told that the walkway ,if you can call it that , at the bottom of Pottery Bank is the best shot as the river isn't as wide and bends well ,not fished there myself and definately wouldn't take my car down .
PS . we used to spend hours down there as kids hoying bricks at the glue sniffers but that's another story lol.
You can take the lad out of Walker but .......
