Went down on Seaham North Pier first light this morning, probably would have slept on but the Missus was snoring like a prize pig.
First cast produced Mackerel, a bit on the small side so went back safely, hopefully to fight another day. Fish came regularly throughout the flood tide and were still being caught when I packed in around 8.30a.m.
I probably had around 2 dozen fish all of which were returned safely bar one which I invited home for dinner.
Normal setup for me is a 1oz spinner on 8lb line coupled with a very light 11ft spinning rod, I also tend to fish with small barbless hooks so this makes unhooking very simple without even handling the fish, just shake it off.
There were probably around 30 other anglers down all catching so all in all a very nice relaxing morning though it still gripes me to see people fishing strings of 6-8 feathers and standing ankle deep in dead mackerel I mean what can you do with them all, unless they have pet seals at home.
Ah! Well!! gripe over I'm going to stick my arse in front of the telly and get set for the match.
    Cheers Alan...
