Fished Hall beach on Sunday afternoon in my Ryhope SAC club match - 1 coalie for around a pound and 1 codling for 3lb. 2oz - came 2nd in match and had hsf with the codling. (112 fished).

Fished Hall beach again on Monday night - nothing on flood, and not a bite on ebbing tide - perfect conditions too - one hour before low water landed 2 codling - 2lb. 11oz and 2lb. 4oz. far too tired to carry on and left knowing I didn't blank!!

Bait - big black yellowtail lugworm, fresh in water, tipped with snake white. (strange thing - no whiting!!)

It's a fab whiting venue mate, but, if the conditions are perfect, you can have some cracking sessions with the codling, had a few over the 6lb. mark this winter. It's knowing the marks on the beach, and picking the right tides.
