Fished Amble Pier last night, 2 hours up dying northerly and caught my best cod ever, 5 1/2 pound. Fished the end of the pier into the river. Got it on squid, lug cocktail on a pennel pulley rig. The bite was very slight followed by slack line! Great fight against the tide.
Also fished there a couple of weeks ago and had 2 codling to 31/2 pound.
I was with Stewy007 last night at slayley gut when he landed the 10 1/2 pounder, what a fish, his rod was bent double and it was quite amusing watching him wrestle with it on the rocks. What a cracking fish! Well done mate.

Thanks Paul,
Tried the site again when you replied, and now the photo is on. Should have maybe cropped it first as the kettle and grapes are poor!
Cheers
