  • Plenty fish on the pier

I headed up to the pier today with the intention of doing some float fishing for wrasse but there were some canny pollack being caught at the end so I went to the end to begin with, nothing on the spinners. Then I moved down to the blocks area and fished into the river side, one coalie on the spinner. I then changed tactics and went for the float using my Yuki Ruby which I wanted to christen, two small pollack resulted.
I then moved down to the second gate area and fished next to Gordon from the site and I got my first wrasse of the year on my first chuck.Really happy with that.

Not the biggest but you've got to start somewhere.
Thanks to Gordon for taking the pic
I had two more wrasse a bit bigger than the first and loads of small pollack so all in all a canny day.
I saw some good fish today including a turbot around the 2lb mark, well done to you mate.
The only down side was that I lost the tip ring from the rod but I just cut it and it worked just as well using the second ring down.
Back out on the hunt tomorrow!

I lost a canny Pollack yesterday using a small shad by the blocks. Next time I will get some rag and have a go for Coalie-looks a canny high tide spot never float fished there before or tried for Pollack.

        Well done mate
        I am a fisherman !
It is not merely something that I do
It is who I am !
Fishing is not simply my escape.
It is where I am supposed to be.
It is not a place that I go
But a lifelong journey that I am taking
It is a passage that was shown to me and that I will continue to show others.
When you understand all of this you will then know me .
        And we will fish together

Cheers lads. I'm off down there again today with the ambitious plan of getting a wrasse with an artificial on the float.
I'm taking ragworm as well to fall back on though.

Nothing doing with the artificials but the ragworm worked fine.
I'm beginning to like this float fishing lark.
