canny session

got down roker pier at 6.30 this morning , fished about 50 yds from the second set of steps on the seaward side.
intended to float fish but had to catch some bait first, after 30 mins had my first mackerel on a spinned which was quickly killed and the belly cut into strips, set the float rig up and cast out after 30 mins got my first makerel on the float which was returned alive, cast straight back out float was drifting as was only fishing at 10ft depth all of a sudden my float shot under had a lovely fight knew it wastnt a mackerel after a few mins of trying to get its head back down to the bottom up came a nice plump pollack , had to hanball it up incase i snapped my lure rod, took a quick pic and the fish was returned alive

Spot on. I did the same as u and used a float off South Shields week or so back and had no luck.
