  • Flatty bashing at the 44

I had an afternoon off work this afternoon so I decided to brave the pier in search of some plaice, got some lively worm from Moonfleet and off I went to the 44 mark on Ssp. When I got there I had the place to myself, just a few mackerel bashers up past the blocks, smashing!
There were bites from the off with loads of dabs coming in, one at about 30cm.

The plaice never came out but the dabs kept me busy all afternoon. Just before I left I chucked a string of daylights on and in a couple of casts I had half a dozen mackerel for the freezer.
A glorious afternoon with the radio on, fish and no hassle. The ideal Friday afternoon off
Got the filleting done and I'm ready for that lovely cold cider that's in the fridge now. Mmmmm!

Well done mate nice day for it
              I am a fisherman !
It is not merely something that I do
It is who I am !
Fishing is not simply my escape.
It is where I am supposed to be.
It is not a place that I go
But a lifelong journey that I am taking
It is a passage that was shown to me and that I will continue to show others.
When you understand all of this you will then know me .
              And we will fish together

The fillets never got to the freezer, our lasses mate wanted them for a barbecue so helped them out too. Good day all round.

Plain clipped down rig, size 2 hook with some green beads, rag and a sliver of mackerel for bait and a decent cast to get out onto the sand.
                          Hope this helps mate.

Plaice seem to be a bit hitty-missy so far Mark - a canny dab there though and a few mackerel so an enjoyable day all in all
