Drove south to Sandsend beach yesterday to meet up with MikeR.
When i turned the last bend before the bottom of the hill and saw the sea state I aquired an immediate smile. PERFECT I thought, drove along the beach road untill my phone started to ring, missed the call by the time I had pulled up and saw that it was Mike. Got out of the car and there he was, standing about two cars away lol.
Got kitted up and down onto a likely looking spot, loads of other anglers on a beach that Mike said he usually had to himself.
Fished about three hours or so and neither saw or heard of anything resembling a fish.
Back to the car and we drove along the coast to Whitby. Onto the pier for the second half and saw a Whiting and half a dozen small Billet being caught
Plenty of small bites on the pier but others we talked to, like us never even had a bite on the beach and we were the last ones off it lol. Such a pity for such excellent conditions.
First time fishing down there and would definately go again. Had some great crack with Mike all night and look forward to meeting up with him again in the future.
Jim.

Nice meeting up with Jim - good bloke! Shame about the fishing though, and the conditions looked so promising. Ah well, there's always next time!

Will be back down after there's been a good blow and a nice cold spell Mike. Should be good fun driving over those moors with a bit of snow down lol, I don't think.
Aye it looks a great beach Steve, definately worth another try mate.
I got it just as we were putting our gear on Rob cheer's mate.

It's a shame you had to travel all that way to end up with no decent fish to take home.

Thanx for the welcome lads,, nice to see everyone is still using the site,,it seems to be going from strenght to strenght
Been out around the N/yorks coast a few times, but had about as much luck as Jim had when he visited Sandsend.
Not really much to report about on the fishing front from here,, had a much better time of it over the summer in N/Wales , a couple of first's for me from the shore, such as a gurnard, small eyed ray and black bream. But now its time to get into the only descent fish to be had THE MIGHTY COD and where better than the North East Coast for them????
Once again thanx lads,, lets hope over the comming months I have something worthwhile reporting about
