  • ssp this morning /advice needed too

    Hi guys nothing to report this morning , saw 3 mackeral caught and that was that . however i did manage to bag alot of sandeels .Any one know if i should gut them before freezing them ? And would they be any use on my boat trip tomorrow ? Cheers James

    no dont gut sandeels ...yes they make great bait

      Hi, where abouts on the pier were you getting them? Small wall by any chance? I'm needing some so it's good to know there getting caught.

        They being caught from the blocks up to the end , some good size to some too

          Think I'm gonna have a trip down Thursday or Friday to see what's about. Be my first session in like 5 months haha! Itching to get back out!

            boat

            sand eels ok for the boat ,i bunch them together and wrap them with elastic to the shank of the hook or tip the worm bait with them.how did you catch so many ?

                they seem very keen on small day lights ,about 4 meters out , even foul hooked some with bigger feathers

                  James, I was on the pier this morning with my dad and brother and we had a good few maccy between us and the lad next to us had another 4 or so.... don't know where you were fishing to only see 3?

                  lol. Were you the lad on the bike that came along as we did about 7:30?

                  Keep the sandeels and you can freeze them as bait mate, not bad to float fish a strip of sandeel close to the pier walls... coalies love it!
