posted on 16/1/2005 at 18:50Fished Blyth Harbour from 10:00 until 14:30 today.Fished opposite the Alcan unloading facility. Nothing for the first hour or so but plenty knocks on the rod tip. Was using rag/lug cocktails and decided to tip these off with squid. First cast with the squid on resulted in a whiting of about 1lb. Got one hell of a knock shortly after catching the whiting and the rod was bent right over reeling the line in. Got whatever it was to just below the surface and could see the commotion just underneath at exactly the time that the line parted !. It must have parted right on the shock leader knot as I lost the leader, trace and everything with it. Never know what it was but whatever it was put up one hell of a battle. Got a couple of undersized whiting after that but both returned to the water. Even though the session ended in one decent fish, I enjoyed it and thats what its all about !. Sorry, but no photos of the whiting as I dont have a digital camera yet.
cheers.
