Crabstick tourney king of the mull

Where to start on a weekend of fun, fishing and friends
6 of us headed up to the mull for 2 day session fishing and camping
Me and Fishingmark had never been before so didn't no wot to expect
Set off 4.30 Saturday morning got up there put tents up and we all were fishing by 9.30
£5 per man for the best fish over the 2 days
The marks we were fishing looked absolute quality

We all took 2 or 3 rods each big rods , spinning and float fishing
1st cast Fishingmark straight into a coalie on a dexter wedge only small but a great start then within 10 mins another
There was jellyfish all over all different colours and shapes

Then bang mad robs float goes under as he reeled it in a lovely red wrasse of about a 1lb a new species and wot proved to be the winner of the comp

Then within 5 mins Stevie Codfather shouted I'm in on his float set up
Up comes a makum red n white wrasse a lovely fish and a new one for his species hunt

Then another 10 mins later My float goes under yes my 1st ever wrasse and I was over the moon not the biggest wrasse in the world but I wasn't bothered

Stevie got a scorpion fish I got a sand eel a mad mark got a small pollack so a great start to the weekend
Fishing slowed down so we decided to go back to the tents for a bit food then try the other side of the mull for some dogfish as mark and young don had never caught one before
Me rob and mark were lagging behind as we got to the wire fence I said to rob watch out its electrified he said its ok and grabbed the wire , me not knowing he was getting shocked then rob said its ok mick it's not turned on I put my hands on it to jump over and guess wot I fell for it hook line and sinker it zapped me as rob fell to the ground laugh ring his head off funny as f...k
Then as we got over mark only slipped down the bank laugh me n rob had tears coming down our faces laughing histerically at him then rob slipped exactly the same
A quick bite to eat and we headed over the other side and we all had doggies except for young don and a new species for mark . Baz got a small pollack on the spinner getting him off the mark
After a few more hours we must of pulled in 20 odd dogfish all good sport we decided to head back for a few more cans and some more scran. Robs Missus had made a big pan full of chicken curry and rice . Full marks to her it was beautiful
It was about 8 by now and don,Stevie and mark wanted to stop at the tents and have an early night . So me rob and baz picked the rods up. And heade up to lighthouse we walked round the whole area it took us about 2 hours looking for a new mark to try but it was gettin dark so decided to head back and have a early start in the morning .we decided to have a break as we were knackered only for madrone to sit against the fence and he got his head zapped off the electric laugh I nearly p...ssed myself gt bac to the tents and had quite a few beers and laughs before We crashed out
Me n rob were last to get up by then the others had the tents packed up and young don had the bacon sarnies on the go for brekkie the weather had gone really windy so we decided to drive from the mull to isle of Whithorn for another session hoping young don would get a doggie to save the blankety blank
The water was crystal clear and with Stevie catching another new species a small pollack
Not a lot happening with the lures so I put on a set of daylites hoping to bag a few makki 1 st cast a small joey makki then bang 4/5 at a time for me n rob this only lasted for 1/2 an hour the they moved plus a the biggest seal I've ever seen
So we changed tactics and used the fresh makki to go for a few doggies to end the day with we must of pulled in 30 it was a fish a cast good fun on the light gear
Baz got a nice red Kelpy cod and a small lobster
A great end to a great weekend with mad rob been crowned king of the mull and winner of our European Crabstick tourney Well done mate the wrasse deserved to win
All in all we had pollack. Coalies. Dogfish. Cod. Scorpionfish. Sand eels. Mackerel. Lobster and wrasse so we can't complain
Loads of great memories with new species,electric shocks and laughs
Bad points the big pollack didn't turn up and young don blanking

A great weekend with some great craic and good fishing. Good to see mackerel in numbers at Whithorn but a shame the bigger pollack didn't come out to play.
The three wrasse came in about a 20 minute spell, same species but markings and colours were so different. Well done lads.
That curry was something else, hit the spot perfectly!
And it definitely wasn't funny when I fell down the bank! Funnier when Rob fell down the small bank next to the tents. Still, he was King of the Mull with the best fish.
