Fished my favourite mark south of the wear last night from low water up. As I walked along, a lad had one 10 pounder, and there were bags of up to 6 fish to 6 pounds, all taken on the ebb, whereas this place fishes on the flood, so I couldn't wait to get started!!

First cast at 10.30, fish straight away, just over 3 pounds. Great start I thought, best phone a skip to get the fish home!!

Never got another bite until 3am!!

This was a fish about 4 1/2 pounds. Got one just short of 5 pounds next cast then another 3 1/2 pounds 2 casts later. Got 3 of the fattest whiting I've seen for a long time, all well over a pound which I put back.

Ended up a good session. All fish caught on lug/rag, with the two biggest falling for more rag than lug.

    Heres a pic anyway.....

Nice bag of fish there Dave.

On the bait front, when I fished Cullercoats the other night the only lad I seen catching was using rag and lug also.

Needless to say I didn't have any which is why I blanked

    Alrite Dave,

Smarmy git........or is it just good angler......?

    Seriously, well done mate.

Our experience on Saturday mirrors yours....Lug outfished Peeler which is unusual considering the ground there.

If you need any more advice you only need ask.

    Love,
    Jeff.

    Cheers jeff (I think )

1 of the lads I was talking to when I went on had his fish on cocktails of runnidown, mussel and prawn which he'd baited up during the summer and froze, just taking them out of his flask when he needed them

    Davy,

Good idea that........don't think my Leader would be too pleased about me preparing fishing bait in the house though.......she's gone from being Waynetta Slob to being Posh Spice since we moved into this house !!!

We were tipping off the fresh lug with frozen blacks as well.....Davey Bolam's idea....not mine I'm afraid.

Only pulling your leg with the post mate. Sorry if my humour didn't come across very well. Please don't complain to the Moderators.....I would hate to get barred from the site....

Theres no way I'll get out next week either....meant to say last night on the phone. I've got overseas visitors at work all next week. Sorry. How about this Friday night...? P.M. me.

    Jeff.

PS...If you're sick of catching fish, ask John Frain along. Never known someone blank as much in a match. The boy is a jinx!!
