wasn't sure where to put this so seeing as it was planned shore trip i'll stick it here.
picked scotty up at 3am and went straight for st marys.
lovely day
tried float fishing launce and mackerel and i tried jellyworms on the small rod; not a touch. About 4 seals started popping up at different spots close to us so after an hour of no bites we thought stuff it lets go to blyth, at least we will have a bit sport with small fish.
water clarity was unreal, this water depth was about 15ft as we were walking along.
plenty sport on the float, we must have had about 30 coalies each all around half a pound and scotty getting a good one probably about a pound which was gut hooked and had to get the nock. we could literally see the fish swimming up to the bait about 12ft down, tugging at it the bait and fighting over it until one had the guts to fly in and nail it and the float shot under. was the most fun i've had in years fishing even though it was tiddlers!
didn't have my go pro with me so couldn't record it. would have made a mint video if i dropped it under the water..... next time i promise!
scotty managed to get me onto the stingray with richie in the afternoon, which i really appreciate him taking us out with only a bit money towards diesel. was quiet on the rough ground with me picking up this bout pound n half
i put it in the fish keeper and was still alive when i got back so seing as i had a proper keeper i hoyed it into the river to grow bigger, it shot off like a bolt!
richie had a few good size pouting on crab and a couple poor cod which went back.
tried further out at a few wrecks, richie had a ling about 5lb i'm guessing.
here's the video
a wreck or two later scotty had this
foul hooked but i'll let him have it haha
then on the last cast on my tiny little 10-20g spinning rod i had this
from 3am till about 9pm. absolutely knackered, had 7 hours sleep and was still falling asleep standing up at work the next day . who needs rest on your day off when you can go fishing eh!
