Well me and Kev (Hadji Kareem) sorted out a few weeks up at Gleneagles with work, so obviously it would have been rude not to take our fishing gear.
Today was our first chance to get the tackle out, Sat Nav said 50miles to Arbroath so off we set.
We had missed low tide at Montrose to dig a few worms, so we called into a tackle shop on route in Dundee to see what was available. No live bait and only frozen runnydown along with maki n Bluey.
Looked at a few marks on The Tay, but a dropping tide, along with weed sorted out our decision ,that we would go into Arbroath to have a mooch around. Water was flat with no colour, so decided to give the beach a go behind the Football Ground to see what was about.
Wasn't expecting to much with state of tide or bait we had, but anything would be better than nothing.
Few small knocks from the off, resulted in Kev picking up the odd flounder, which were disappointingly small, after about two hours Kev was ahead by four to nil, so whilst he sorted out a load of weed he brought in the size of a large Penguin, I put up my second rod and loaded it with a Flattie rig, as the tide turned I was soon into a double shot of small flounder,
The bites continued to show, but I have to say, the flounder up here were very timid and didn't produce the normal Flattie rattles.
Kev soon relised I was fishing with two rods, but snooze yer lose I say and the score ended up 7-4 to me. Biggest only around 30cms Unlucky Kev. Weather was cracking and Crac was good which is what it's all about.
Anyway, up early on Sunday to catch the tide at Montrose then drive back a few miles,to fish at Lunan Bay to try for a Turbot or Bass.
PS. Should read Arbroath Beach on title but could not alter.
