posted on 4/12/2004 at 04:19Decided to try Collywell first but there was three lads jut going onto the spot that I had picked so decided on the sumps. Had a walk down before I put my kit on to make sure there was room and was surprised to see there was a bit of a roll on the sea. Watched it for a while and decided it was ok. Went back to the car and kitted up then walked back over. By this time I had a bit of a sweat on. Just got onto the highest bit on the point when a wave came over the top just over knee height followed quickly by another. Was very pleased I was on the highest bit or I might have been over.
I decided it was stuff this for a game of soldiers and legged it a lot quicker than I got on. Got back to the car absolutely dripping with sweat put everything back in and headed to the north end of Blyth beach. Flat as the proverbial fart.
Never mind ended up with about 15 - 20 Whiting all in size. Kept three for our dinner tomorrow.
It was wonderfull fishing with me 14' DC8 rock rod (not) but luckily I had put me Bass rod in the car. Got a cracking bite on the first chuck with it and got into a canny fish. Unfortunately I had a 3 oz gripper which didn't open and with the weight of the fish it was a bit heavy for the rod so lost it half way in. Never mind still enjoyed most of the night and have got me legs cleaned up now after those two waves lol.
Roll on Monday night.
