Subject: 15.11.04 A DAY OFF WORKTC

posted on 15/11/2004 at 19:24Well having not been out fishin' for over 2 weeks and not having had a day off work for 3 months, I decided to combine the two, today.
Started off on a rock mark just south of The Wherry at 10:00.
L/W was at 11:02, so I thought I'd give it 1 down and 2 up.
Armed with mussel, squid and rag (ID didn't have any lug ), and looking forward to a days fishing, I thought to meself "well I'd rather be here than at work, even if I don't catch owt"........needless to say....I didn't catch owt.
Had a drive along to the little beach at So. Shields.
The wind was bad at Whitburn (and that was in the shelter of the cliffs), but by ya bugger, it was blowin' a hoolie on the beach. The rod stand had to be dug into the sand about a foot deep.
Spent a couple of hours there...not even a nibble (well, I don't think so anyway......it was impossible to tell in the wind)......ANYWAY....no fish landed.
Had the last few hours on the pier......Ever tried pouring coffee HORIZONTALLY into a cup??? .....lol......anyway, ended up with 2 whiting from the Rail End...both returned.
Still enjoyed me day out.......I'll have to do it again, sometime........
mental note "must invite fish, next time"
