cant believe the pier stopped open the waves were coming right over and people were still fishing there, just hope no one gets swept of, seen loads of people get hit by them._______________________________________

Which pier? It looked a bit naughty on Shields and that was half tide down. I would be surprised if its Roker that was open, a fish farts 10 mile offshore and waves off it cause Roker to shut!
That said you cant be too cautious with the sea...Comment

pier looked very unsafe at 2pm today onwards seen loads caught by the waves coming over boxes getting washed across and looked to be getting worse at bunker area with it coming over every 6 wave hits. i must have seen the same 3-4 people fishing hit by them while i was walking the dog._______________________________________
