This comp was fished on 'The Tyne' just behind Gateshead Stadium near to the 'The Schooner Public House' between 2pm and 6 pm on a rising tide with H/T at around 5 50pm using catch, measure release method.
9 members turned up for this new venue, with the weather looking canny for a bit of flatty bashing.
Peter Chadwick was into a 28cm Codling within two minutes, which turned out to be his only fish of the day. It was slow to start, with not many bites showing. As soon as the tide began to ease a few of the lads began to pull out a few fish with surprisingly not many flounder showing.
Fishing was slightly cramped in front of the Car Park, so Ian Ainsley moved 100m to the left of the pack and was into fish from the off, his first fish being a nice Eel of around 2' quickly followed by a small flat and a 26cm Codling.
The lads at the Car Park end were still finding it hard going, but the entertainment was the three lads fishing nearby, rod in one hand and 2ltr White Lightning in the other. ( "How, der yer hav any spare hooks, cotton, bait ) ERR NO !!! It's official the CIDER DRINKING SEASON is upon us.
Anyway back to the fishing and poor Kev Woodcock could be seen sitting on his box like a gnome awaiting the expected rod rattle, sadly it never arrived and off home he went, tail between legs.
A pretty poor day for most in what looks like a canny little spot.
The Mexican "El Blanco" hat was shared between Kev and Martin, the Saddo hat was won by "TREKKIE" Mick Dunn who couldn't make the Comp because he went to the pictures to see the new Star Trek film.
Most fish were taken on live crab with all returned alive.
