You have to register a team of five anglers - I believe there's a meeting sometime late summer when the dates are picked & teams are registered. I've thought about fishing it, but sometimes think I'm fishing too many comps already so haven't bothered, but lot's of people I know fish it. I can't remember for sure, but think entry costs £100 per team, plus I think £6 entry per man per match, with zone payouts on the night. There are six matches, each fished in five zones with one angler from each team in each zone and two take place at Whitley Bay, two at Newbiggin & two at Amble. There's then a national final for those that qualify, always fished somewhere down south - but this bit doesn't interest a lot of people.

I'm sure someone who's fishing it can give you a fuller answer.

Anyone who wants a fast track way of learning the marks they would do well to fish the sea league. You get to know the best marks in each area and it helps in knowing where within the boundaries fish are coming from, you also get to fish with lots of top anglers. It's very competitive but also frustrating when you get a poor zone for the conditions on the night. You do however often get a big surprise with fish coming from unlikely places and the top marks producing nowt!

It's only a £10 a man to enter the league. £50 per team. Like what chukka says it's a great way to learn marks and from the best anglers on the north east coast.

You quickly getting involved and if you fish the league you get to find out where the best bags came from. Improves your fishing no end.
