  • Durham Police SAC 23/3/11 Seaham Hall Beach

14 Seniors fished this Comp tonight between 1830hrs and 2130hrs on the North end of Seaham Hall Beach, on a catch and release scoring system, using SAMF scoring card with fish over 18cm scoring.
Not much was expected, with the water like a pond on a very mild night.
A few flounder and small plaice were landed within the first hour, but as the tide dropped, so did the amount of bites.
Word soon got round, that Old Billy Huscroft had landed a fine 31cm Bass at short distance, using rag/lug.
A few coleys and pin whiting then appeared, but in all, a very slow night.
Mick Dunn won The lifetime achievement award, for beating Ian Ainsley tonight, because its taken him a lifetime to do it lol.
Mel Anderson retains the Mexican Hat yet again for Ell Blanking, and has won it more times than Brazil have won the World cup.

Not a bad night, good turn out, venue was good. Shame there wasn't more fish, but you can't have everything. Roll on the next comp.

Ha Ha i had a canny night with me Salt Bass rod Abu, fixed Spool reel and braid (thanks Glasgow Angling - canny deal).
Blacks tipped off with bluey had my rod tapping away most of the night.
Kept putting rag on the top flapper hoping for a Bass and thought i had one until i found Peter had crossed me. So the Bass was not to be.
Nice night and Chut you are lucky to live in such a canny place with the beach on your doorstep.
Good turn out so well done lads.
      Mick.
